For those of you who I have not had the opportunity to meet yet, my name is David Martin and I have taken a new role in Tokheim as Managing Director based in Scotland. My family and I have re-located to Dundee, Scotland and are enjoying the warm hospitality and no-so-warm weather! I take this opportunity to apologize for not being at UNITI in person but my wife and I are imminently expecting the arrival of our second child and so I am staying close to home for the next few weeks! I look forward to spending more time with you and building partnerships in the coming months and I will continue to engage and have more face to face visits.
In my first months with Tokheim, I have met many employees who have been with Tokheim for 10, 20 and even over 30 years. I am beginning to understand why Tokheim is so special and the clear leader in the EMEA market. The values I see in Tokheim match my own and Dover’s values.
There are five Dover Values which I feel resonate particularly well with the Tokheim Values.
• Collaborative Entrepreneurial Spirit – Initiative, Pro-activeness and Entrepreneurship
• Expectations for Results – Continuous Improvement, Lean, Profitability of the Company
• High Ethical Standards, Openness and Trust – Ownership, Commitment and Make It Happen Attitude: ‘Safely and Ethically’
• Winning Through Customers – Customer and Market Driven
• Last, but just as important is Respects and Values People – Taking Care of our Customers and our People
I would like to share some thoughts on this last highlighted value. I remember a leader I greatly respect very simply and eloquently telling me, “the most respectful thing we can do for our employees is to send them home safely every night.” He is right. So, for me, Respects and Values People starts with safety. I hope by now most of the Tokheim team members have heard me and others on the Tokheim leadership team talk about safety. As an organisation, we do a lot more than just talk about it. We work hard to put in place practices, procedures and plans to support our critical goals of maintaining a safe working environment and sending our employees home safely each night.
As we progress through 2016, I would like to share some key priorities that are in place today and that will continue to be our priority for the remainder of this year and beyond:
Safety remains our first priority – Stay vigilant, adhere to the safety standards, and go a step further to be proactive in taking care of yourself, colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Satisfy our customers – We will focus on satisfying our customers with innovative superior quality products and solutions, which are delivered on-time.
Strengthen our bonds with our partners – Provide the support and service our customers and partners expect and should have to remind them how important they are to our collective success.
Leverage being part of OPW and Dover – Being part of OPW and Dover will open new opportunities for growth and allow us to identify and deliver added value for our customers with a wider End-to-End product and solutions portfolio now available.
Communication – We will pro-actively communicate more than ever internally and with our customers. This will help us achieve our goals and improve every day.
In closing, many thanks to you, our valued and loyal customers, and to our dedicated employees.

When John J. Tokheim designed and built the first pump able to handle kerosene and gasoline for stove use, little did he know how impactful his invention would become in the future. In 1898 Mr. Tokheim conceived the idea of and installed the very first underground gasoline storage tank known as the Tokheim “Dome Oil” pump. A few years later, in 1901, this innovative invention led to the foundation of The Tokheim Manufacturing Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, subsequently relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1918.
Since then, our customer’s throughout the world have invested and trusted in Tokheim to consistently deliver products and solutions of the highest quality and efficiency, with the latest technology and innovation in the safest, most reliable, and environmentally responsible manner. Be it a single- or multi-product fuel dispenser, an outdoor payment terminal, a cloud payment application, or, if required, a complete fuel site package, we are the world’s only true End-to-End solution provider. The full range of our products and solutions has been designed, engineered and manufactured to deliver added value and added performance to your forecourt as well as create a pleasurable and enhanced fuelling experience for the end user.
For UNITI especially, we have prepared a booklet called “Leading The Way” where we present Tokheim’s path to becoming a leader in the fuel retail industry for the last 100 years. We have tried to provide evidence that our products and systems solutions offer better quality, more reliable performance, wider selection of features and upgrades and reduced total cost of ownership compared to other industry players. We believe we ultimately deliver the leading technology and best value End-to-End solutions in the industry, which will benefit your forecourt business and deliver an enhanced and more pleasurable experience for your customers.
The booklets are available from our sales representatives on the stand, so please ask for one and share it with your colleagues and business partners.

This excellent design and architecture delivers a user-friendly display, convenient and faster fuelling and overall added value and performance to your business.

A world of promotions and business opportunities from T-Media
Independent research studies have shown that 87% of consumers enjoy watching entertaining content at the pump, and more than 30% consumers stated they had made an unplanned purchase after having seen a product advertised.
Why not take an advantage of the promotional opportunities available for the forecourt today? The Tokheim media screen, TQC- VGA, and media solution, T-Media, can provide your consumers with information, news, advertisements and promotions and deliver additional revenues and customer satisfaction for your business.
New features on T-Media will allow you to play media at the pump extremely easily and effectively. Designed and exclusively launched at UNITI Expo, the upgraded solution allows you to use one single Content Management System to manage your indoor and outdoor screens. The solution is now equipped with a Switching Tool, enabling to switch between the USB-Solution on the NAS-Box and the online Cloud Service easily, while the Sound Level Adjustment option will allow the sound level of the media at the pump to be managed remotely and adjusted per time of the day.
Innovation and sophistication from the new calculator head
Tokheim is pleased to unveil the innovative and breakthrough TQC-VGA head. Designed and launched exclusively at UNITI Expo, the new smart and sleek design will add a modern feel and advanced functionality to the fuel dispenser and your forecourt.
The All-In-One user interface, with rounded, flush mounted, full glass front fascia in black background, LED accented guidance and App symbols to identify the UI elements, will undoubtedly impress your consumers and take the forecourt to another level from the competition.
The new head fully supports the Tokheim standard TQC-VGA calculator and media screen, Crypto VGA payment with enhanced anti-skimming function, 2D barcode scanner and NFC /RFID, Mobile Payment, security and CCTV camera for Tokheim Eye, face recognition camera for real-time media through Tokheim T-Media and audio with “speaker-on-glass”, and integrated intercom.
Targeted advertising and a safer site with Tokheim EYE and T-Media
Advertising can only be truly effective when you know what profile of customer visits your fuel station and what fuel and shop products and services they are looking for. By utilising the latest technologies and creating a link between Tokheim’s security system, Tokheim Eye, and Tokheim’s powerful media platform, T-Media, we make it possible to identify and determine key profile information on your customer, at the time of fuelling. Based on this information, a dedicated advertisement or promotion can be shown on the Quantium dispenser’s 17” advertising screen, the TQC-VGA.
If you wish to promote a premium fuel grade, car wash or a shop product or service it is the pump advertising screen that will give you this dedicated access to the consumer.
Targeted advertising has become more relevant and helpful for the customers, and more effective for the advertisers and business owners. The connection between Tokheim Eye and T-Media is not only interesting for advertising purposes, but it can also help to prevent fraud on site. When the “Thank You” message at the end of a fuel transaction is displayed, an image of the dispenser user can appear on the screen. The feature will enable you to have a more advanced security and CCTV system in place on your forecourt, significantly reducing the risk of fraud. The targeted advertising and the security features can be perfectly and easily combined for each dedicated fuel transaction as and when required.
Ease-of-use and convenience with Tokheim Mobile Payment
Tokheim’s latest solution in fuel payment was demonstrated on the stand at this year’s UNITI Expo. The mobile payment solution from Tokheim enables consumers to pay for fuel with virtualised fleet cards in a fast and secure way, view their historical usage and automatically retrieve electronic receipts on their smartphone. While at all times remaining in line with the required fuel station health and safety regulations, consumers can handle the complete payment process on their mobile phone from within their vehicle.
The Tokheim solution utilises beacon technology to initiate a mobile transaction. Beacons will trigger a welcome notification to the smartphone when it is identified at the station and confirm the location of the mobile phone to the dispenser or station. Privacy is fully guaranteed as no card numbers or sensitive personal data is stored on the phone. The Tokheim cloud-based mobile payment server, COMPASS, manages the entire transaction process and interacts with the Fuel POS, Tokheim’s industry-leading electronic point of sale system. COMPASS also transmits the financial transactions to Tokheim’s payment host, OASE, for further authorisation processing.
“Privacy is fully guaranteed as no card numbers or sensitive personal data is stored on the phone.”
The mobile payment method delivers benefits to drivers as well as station owners, providing convenience and an optimum user experience while reducing the overall time taken for the fuelling and transaction process at the pump.
Watch our latest video to see how your station could benefit from the mobile payment and other services available from Tokheim’s Cloud Solution.
A new highly visible change in the latest release of Tokheim Fuel POS is related to the number of article buttons or fast keys that can be used to select a shop item quickly and easily. With a selection of 32 different item groups available on the screen, the system can be configured with up to 1,024 individual shop items linked to a fast key, while a combination of colours and icons make it easier for the cashier to find the customer desired item. The customisation of the buttons has been further enhanced in Fuel POS release 42 and will be available for release soon.
Head office and back office management with ease with Tokheim Konnect

For a managed network, Konnect provides centralised database management and consolidated reporting, benefiting station owners from a complete and detailed overview of their business. Designed with a user-optimum experience in mind, Konnect can be accessed from any web-based PC, providing complete flexibility in managing a forecourt network from anywhere in the world.
Minimised fraud and theft with synergy of Tokheim Eye and Fuel POS
Fraud and theft are one of major risks to the safety and profitability of your business. If you look for a solution that could prevent or minimise them, look no further. The Tokheim Eye, Tokheim’s security and CCTV system, displays and stores receipts and images of the fuelling process when fully connected to the Fuel POS electronic point of sale system. This unique connection means that you can retrieve images of events, users or transactions by receipt or fuelling number, and by date and time.
With the fully integrated Tokheim Eye you can access detailed information to tackle internal and external fraud and theft. The report writers can link the data from the system into an easy to use excel sheet and instantly display vital company wide statistics, such as top 10 sites with the highest value refunds, top 10 employees with the highest number of voids. The optional static or dynamic Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) also opens a world of possibilities in the area of security, targeted marketing and automated payment. Tokheim Eye is available in all European countries and is fully compatible with ONVIF cameras.
Last year the Tokheim SmartFuel Radio Frequency Nozzle (RFN) design was optimised and now consists of 2 parts – the antenna on the nozzle spout and the electronics compartment on the nozzle coupling.
The re-design has made the front-side of the nozzle smaller, providing more space for the nozzle to be positioned correctly into the fuel tank inlet allowing smaller cars and trucks with narrow tank inlets to be added to the increasing portfolio of users.
The new RFN is currently available for the ZVA 25 High Speed Nozzle and for the ZVA SL2 Diesel and Vapour Recovery Nozzles. Additional nozzles are currently under development.
Fuel pricing decision made easy with Fairbanks Margin Manager
This year’s UNITI Expo event provides Fairbanks with the
perfect opportunity to showcase its latest innovation: Station Manager 365 – an innovative web-portal that gives customers greater visibility and control over their fuel operations. Fairbanks launched Station Manager in the spring of last year and has seen huge amounts of success, due to its intelligent ability to help users manage their forecourt operations with immeasurable ease. From identifying slow-flowing nozzles to instantly alerting users of diminishing stock levels, Station Manager 365 is the most advanced web-platform in the market and Fairbanks has taken this ground-breaking innovation to the next level.
Introducing Margin Manager, the profit management tool that provides you with everything you need in order to make essential fuel pricing decisions. With the touch of a button, Margin Manager can help you to optimise margins, calculate accurate profits and create successful pricing strategies. Fairbanks recognises how difficult it can be to set the selling price of your fuel day-to-day and maintain the desired profit margins, without knowing the exact value of your underground stock. Margin Manager continually updates you on the optimum selling price range required to retain your margin, as the stock depletes and the value changes, so that you can set your daily rates safe in the knowledge that they directly reflect the true worth of your fuel stock. Other factors, such as competitor rates in your local area, can also have an impact on your fuel pricing decisions. Using the fuel pricing tool, you can easily look back over your historical selling prices and compare them to those of your competitors, allowing you to make a more informed pricing decision.

The ProGauge, environmental monitoring and tank gauging solutions, showcased a set of new and enhanced features at this year’s UNITI Expo.

We also presented a flexible and scalable range of ProGauge consoles, offering all the industry standard features and a 3D Laser calibration tool, an innovative system measuring the volume of tanks and providing a highly accurate 3D drawing in a safe environment.
ProFleet unveils new solutions for the commercial industry

Products and systems available on the stand include the DiaHOST hosting service, new features of DiaLOG fuel management system and Quantium dispensers dedicated to the commercial fleet industry.
The new DiaHOST, a secure hosting solution, enables ProFleet to store and manage the client’s data via the cloud. For the exhibition, we have prepared a new video explaining how the system works, so do not miss the opportunity to see this demonstration first-hand. New and enhanced DiaLOG identification methods – bar code reader, license plate recognition and vehicle tag – will be presented and will provide you with a wide choice of options, depending on the number of vehicles you operate, the level of fraud you may face or be concerned about and the convenience level you are looking for.

Unmanned gasoline Tank Liner Solution now certified and available on the market
Tokheim and Fenotec are delighted to announce that the testing and release process for the unmanned entry gasoline tank liner solution has been completed successfully.
The well-established diesel liner solution from Tokheim and Fenotec introduced to the market 2 years ago has resulted in the successful completion of many installations. For gasoline products, a different liner material is required to withstand the additional issues introduced by new products including bio components and additives. This material has been specially designed and tested to ensure optimal operation and reliability as is expected from any quality product from Tokheim and Fenotec.
An extensive testing and evaluation programme, both in laboratory conditions and field environment, has been performed over the last 2 years and has now been completed successfully. Evaluation and testing was done by TuV Nord and PiBT Braunsweich, all in accordance with the CE and EN standards for UST lining products.
The Tokheim and Fenotec gasoline liner solution has passed all these tests and proven its quality in permeability and conductivity on all points. Over the next few months, the gasoline liner solution will be introduced to various markets throughout the world and made available for installation.
